Walk Off The Earth has done it again! Oh, you’re not familiar with them yet? Well, in that case… they rock your musical socks off. And they just did it again.

Possibly my theme song this summer?

Every time I hear this song, I just try to remember what I’m working towards enjoying in the next month and not focus on all the stress right now.

Just finished watching “Friends With Benefits”… did you ever notice the song in the credits?

“All the other kids with their pumped up kicks, better run, better run, outrun my gun. All the other kids with their pumped up kids, better run, better run, faster than my bullet….”

Hmmm… interesting choice of a song for a ‘best friends/ relationship’ movie. :P

Just thought it was ironic. Great movie though!

You Can “Count On Me” that “I Won’t Give Up” on Friends

I Won’t Give Up by Jason Mraz

I absolutely love this song. I just found it yesterday for the first time thanks to Hal Elrod. I know the focus might appear to be on dating or similar relationships, but I think this can even be applied to friends and friendship and those kinds of relationships. That is love too.

And what’s a friend if they give up on that so easily. Sure it’s easy to run away no matter the challenges in life, but it takes a selfless, compassionate, understanding and courageous individual to stay with someone no matter the circumstances and help and love them a long the way.

Powerful song.

Another song that not only speaks of friendship, but is entirely focused on it’s importance is Count On Me by Bruno Mars.
Again you can take this song either way, and granted the music video references to a couple, but in my opinion friendship is first and foremost the most important kind of relationship. Why? Because after the attraction in a relationship wears off, if there’s nothing left, you don’t have anything to keep going and hold that relationship together. You don’t have someone say I won’t give up. But if you have that friendship and that’s what is of the most value to you, it won’t matter what happens, you won’t let a friend just walk a way… and if they feel the say way, they won’t just walk a way. What a beautiful picture. I hope someday to find that.

The Note [Video]

My first amateur production. Inspired by a friend who sent me this note.

Music by Mumford & Sons. I obviously don’t claim rights to producing that.

Let me know what you think! Thanks for watching.

Tribute to Steve Jobs by AzRmusic

The song is unique because it was made using only sounds from Apple products and Steve’s 2005 Stanford commencement speech. Every instrument, including drums, has been sampled from a Mac product, tuned by ear, and replayed in the context of the song.

RIP Steve

Hard Experiences vs Touching Songs — Sometimes It Takes One to Understand the Other

The song I’m referring to is Heaven by 3 Doors Down (If you’re like me and you need lyrics to truly follow it, you can find them here). The song is about looking back realizing that he was so consumed with the problems and their severity, that he forgot about the things that really mattered and how he wish he could just go back now realizing that what he had all along was sufficient enough to get him through the struggles no matter how tough they where.

I liked the song the first time I heard it, but didn’t understand what it meant until just listening to it now after going through an experience this weekend. That experience was knowing someone who took their own life. A life that belonged to a father, husband, doctor and great friend.

Some knew of his depression. Others, like me, never knew anything of it. In my short time I knew and interacted with him, he was a hillarious, caring and kind person. Part of me can’t even believe it happened. MOST of me can’t believe it happened. I try to picture this amazing father and man to someone so depressed they’d get low enough to not want to live anymore. I can’t. No matter how hard I try to understand it, my mind won’t let me comprehend how both can coincide in the same body. The same mind.

I found out from a friend Saturday night, the same night he took his life. Her father, also a doctor, tried to reach out to him and help him, letting him know that if he ever got that low to call. I can’t imagine being there in that place. Simply knowing someone who took their own life is hard enough, let alone being a son, daughter, wife, husband or very close friend.

My thoughts are with those in mourning. Seeing what this truly does to a family has made me realize how much each one of us—each of us—matter to people. It has just reinforced my belief more to not only live each day like it’s our last, but treat everyone else like it’s their last day too. If we do that, we won’t have any regrets. Sure we can’t expect to never have any, but why not strive for that?

Those are my thoughts. I hope you enjoy the song.

I heard this song and immediately thought to share it with a friend to encourage her, but then I thought “Aaron, YOU need to share this with yourself. Why haven’t you walked away from “‘what’s left?’” So I got inspired to share this on here as well. It’s easy to think that sometimes what you’ve walked away from is enough, but when there is still something of the past that lingers around you, you’re still holding on to something and that holds you back from every moving forward in life.

Enjoy! The lyrics are below:

A few pictures, two tickets, from a trip we took last year,
A handful of memories, some still seem clear,
A few regrets, a couple of melodies, that remind me of you,
I could say that I won’t miss this, but that wouldn’t be the truth,
There’s no one here to blame, and this is the only way,
There’s nothing left for us, to say

It’s time to let you go, it’s what we have to do,
It’s time to give this up, I think that we both knew,
There’s nothing left to say, there’s nothing left to prove,
And now it’s time to turn and walk away from,
What’s left of me and you,
What’s left of me and you

Box of letters, that old t-shirt, still brings me back to you,
A few more hours in the day, not sure what I should do,
There’s no one here to blame, and this is the only way,
There’s nothing left for us to say

It’s time to let you go, it’s what we have to do,
It’s time to give this up, I think that we both knew,
There’s nothing left to say, there’s nothing left to prove,
And now it’s time to turn and walk away from,
What’s left of me and you

You were the best thing I’ll ever give up,
And it’s hard to see the truth,
When you think you’re still in love,
The only way to get on with my life,
Is to say goodbye, so goodbye

It’s time to let you go, it’s what we have to do,
It’s time to give this up, I think that we both knew,
There’s nothing left to say and nothing left to prove,
And now it’s time to turn and walk away from,
What’s left of me and you,
What’s left of me and you

A few pictures, two tickets,
From a trip we took last year,
A handful of memories,
Some still seem clear

About

Hey! My name is Aaron Couch. I'm 24 years old and this is where I write about things I care about, from my own personal beliefs to sharing about experiences to technology to anything dealing with animals, specifically exotics.

More About Me: I actually just moved to Idaho from Nebraska to explore amazing new opportunities, get out on my own, and be closer to my incredible girlfriend.

I'm a Vet Assistant graduate and am currently writing for MakeUseOf, while looking for opportunities in the exotic animal husbandry, rescue and rehabilitation, and research fields of work. Previously, I interned at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha from June 2012 up to when I left for Idaho in May 2013.

I'm an exotic animal & herp enthusiast and love mountain biking, writing, photography and the outdoors.

While you're here, check out the 30-Day 'Best Times with Friends' Challenge that I did a while back. Basically I chose a random photo of me with my friends and wrote about the story behind that photo. It was an awesome exercise!
