What I’ve Been Up To
Lately I’ve been pretty busy, mostly with building my own website. Currently it’s live and put together to my liking, although content-wise there isn’t a whole lot up yet. But I am quite excited. Building a personal website has already done a lot of things for me.
The biggest thing it’s done for me is allowed me to conquer the thought that I couldn’t make my own website without a lot of coding and knowledge on the subject, but with a little (actually a lot) of help from an article, “The Ultimate Guide to Building a Personal Website,” it was a piece of cake! I didn’t build it from scratch — I’m using Wordpress as a platform and I really like it. Also, I’m starting a new professional blog on that site as well. I plan to cross post everything shared there to here, but not the other way around. I have linked to my personal blog from my website (still kind of weird thinking that I have my very own), but I want to make sure there is a definite line between the two sites and blogs.
Speaking of blogging I have recently decided to consolidate my blogs. I think this will allow me to refocus and motivate myself more as well. Currently I have 6 blogs (not counting some of the duplicate ones, which I’ll get to in a second). That’s a lot of blogs! Now that number does include the new professional blog I just started, but I feel like that is pretty crazy. I have a tech blog, 2 photo blogs, a personal blog, my blog while in Alaska, my professional blog and College BLogic my college blog (which I recently created a Tumblr account for not too long ago). As I was thinking about how I could make things simpler I came to the idea that I could merge my tech blog with my professional and personal blog. Most of my tech articles are professional so I could post about them there (of course that wouldn’t be all I’d share) and since it’s an interest I would share it on here as well. This blog (my personal one) is basically any thoughts, interests and opinions that I have. I realize that isn’t the popular way to blog and that you should have a one to two topics, but that is what The End Result is all about.
As far as College BLogic goes, that was a hard decision. I really enjoy the idea of having a college blog to help students. However, I had to weigh it all out. Recently I’ve somewhat abandoned it and haven’t posted much to it anyways. Also, there are a lot of other great college blogs out there. Instead of continuing College BLogic, I’ve decided to keep it up, but whenever I want to share something pertaining and helpful to college students, to just guest post to a college blog! That, I feel, is the best decision.
Now my Alaskan blog that I mentioned was only posted to WHILE in Alaska, so I don’t even consider it a “current” blog. It is more of a reference point that I refer back different experiences to, as well as point people who are interested in all my experiences I had while up there.
That brings me down to my personal blog, professional blog and photo blogs. Yes I have two of them. Both pretty much the same — same name, pretty sure the same photos, just a different platform. I will probably keep the one on Tumblr and remove the one from Posterous all together. No sense in having two.
So then there were three! And that’s what it’ll be! Just blogging for me! And now I have to pee! …sorry I was running out of rhymes.
Anyways, I think that sums up what’s been on my mind and what I’ve been working on. These changes will be implemented soon. I don’t think they will impact too many people, as my blogs aren’t too popular, however there may be a little more variety on here and I will definitely be posting more to my photo blog as well! I’m excited for these changes!
Hope you have an awesome weekend and thank you for reading. If you have any comments or thoughts, feel free to let me know!
